DESCRIPTION:
This is a QA system that follows pattern Based Approach, which takes a text problem as input and provides the formula, needed to solve the problem as output. In our project, we do not only consider simple questions but also text problems consisting of several sentences.
A Pattern Based Approach along with an appropriate text corpus and knowledge base is followed. Our approach involves two phases of operation, the Pattern Generation phase and the Question Answering Phase. The pattern generation phase involves translating the natural language questions using an underlying corpus to derive meaningful and relevant patterns. Then in the question-answering phase, derived patterns are used to derive the corresponding formula using the knowledge base.
In our project, resolution of anaphora reference plays a crucial role. We intend to resolve this using Hobbs algorithm.
